New Edition in preparation for Term 1 2018! Pearson's New Zealand representative, Edify Limited, will be publishing a new edition of Alpha Mathematics for 2018. Visit the Edify website to learn more.
The Alpha Mathematics Workbook contains hundreds of questions and activities for which David Barton is famous: well graded, interesting, and linked throughout to real-world applications.
- The exercises are matched to corresponding exercises in Alpha Mathematics 2e, making it easy for teachers to choose, and students to do, homework, extra practice and revision that matches what is done in class.
- As with Alpha Mathematics 2e, the contents of the Workbook are organised into the three Strands of Mathematics and Statistics in the New Zealand Curriculum, and the examples and exercises follow the spirit of the Numeracy Project.
- While generally aimed at Level 4 of the Curriculum, some of the content is drawn from lower levels to meet the needs of a range of students entering secondary schools, while investigations and puzzles are included for more able students.
- The write-on Alpha Mathematics Workbook is organised so that each two-page sheet can be removed from the book and handed in for assessment. More room has been provided within questions for students to demonstrate their mathematical skills.
The Alpha Mathematics CD in this Workbook features PowerPoint® worked examples to ease the task of parents ‘helping with maths’, as well as data sets, spreadsheets and LiveMathTM computer algebra activities. It also gives links to many internet sites that explain and illustrate mathematical concepts in detail.
