Author biography

David Bendell is well known throughout New Zealand as a leading hairdressing educator.  He has had a long association with Wellington Polytechnic (now Massey University) as senior lecturer and lecturer-in-charge of Hairdressing within the School of Fashion.  David has taught thousands of apprentices and trainees and has hosted workshops on special methods teaching techniques for hairdressing lecturers throughout New Zealand.  He has worked on the committees of numerous hairdressing organisations, such as New Zealand Inter-coiffure, the National Hairdressing Council, the New Zealand Hairdressing Fellowship and the Apprenticeship and Syllabus/ Curriculum Committees.  David is a past President of the Wellington Hairdressing Association as well as having been Chief National Examiner and Marker/Assessor for the Trades Boards and Qualifications Authority.

He qualified as a Hairdresser at the British Hairdressing Council.

As a qualified assessor of Adult Learning, Moderation of Work Place Assessment and Special Methods, David has a solid understanding of how hairdressing education and training should be delivered.  He maintains an interest in a Wellington city salon as a stylist and trainer.

He is developing interactive multimedia learning packages for global access on the lnternet.
