Author biography
Pat Jordan holds a BE (Hons) and PhD from the University of Canterbury. He recently retired after lecturing in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Canterbury, for 39 years. His teaching has included: heat transfer, process modelling, computational fluid dynamics, optimisation and computation methods. He has particularly enjoyed teaching his students how to apply the power of Excel in solving heat transfer and optimisation problems. In 2006/07, a sabbatical year at Sheffield University gave him the opportunity to write the fore-runner to this book, capturing the aspects of Excel that he has found useful himself and to his students in problem-solving and analysing research results. In retirement, he plans to spend more time indulging his passion for wood-turning.
